The Study on the Housing Life Style in Three Kingdoms and Unified Silla Period |
Abstract |
the purpose of this study is to understand the housing life style in the Three Kingdoms period and the Unified Silla Period. The housing life style is concerned with the posture of sitting. The posture of sitting is important element to inner space. The result of this study is as follow.In case of the Neolitic Age, a plastic statue, sitting barefoot with closs legs, was excavated. In the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age, They used board on the floor of room, and the early form of Ondol, Korean traditional heating system, appeared. It is also cross legged position in Koruryo. We could see that some persons sit with legs crossed and shoes off on Tap so Sang, a kind of furniture to sit or lie down. Hosang which is a kind of chair was introduced around influx of Buddhism, but it was not used widely. In Baekje, it is supposed that the housing life style was simila to Koguryo. In Silla, they also sit with legs crossed of Tap Sang. In the Unified Silla period, the housing life style was not changed. |
