Abstract Jaesil is a kind of Confucian building which was built mainly in Chosun Dynasty(15C-19C). Korean people hold ancestral rites on the graves of their ancestors of more than five generations on the 10th lunar month of every year. This custom is based on the thought of ancestor worship come from confucious moral principle, and it is still continued. Jaesil had been built not by a person but by close relatives.It is located around the tomb of the ancestor, and it is used as a place for preparation of memorial day's food, accommodation of the people who participates in the memorial.Jaesil of Chonnam Province(Southwestern area of South Korea) is composed of simple "-form." It is consisted of two bed roomsand one wood floor and a gate which is called soslsammun built in front of the building. It is very different from "ㅁform"of Youngnam area(Southeastern area of South Korea) in Korea.In Chonman area, there are many old and large jaesils. For example, Youngmo Jaesil, chuwon Jaesil and Jonghon Jaesil, etc.
