Abstract Live load data were collected in a systematic manner from a survey of office buildings in Korea. Using the collected floor live load survey data, the basic statistics, a histogram of the uniformly distributed loads, and the equivalent uniformly distributed loads are computed for various structural members.Based on the avove results, the maximum of a combined live load during the design life have been estimated and compared with current design live loads. The ultimate goal of this study are to develop probabilistic live load models to analyze survey data of domestic office buildings, to suggest design live loads with influence areas and structural members, and to compare the currently recommeneded live load reduction factor by supported floor numbers and those calculated from the live load survey data.
