| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to explore the motivational mechanisms involved in architectural design problem solving. This paper presents a framework for capturing the design actions which are taking place in the design process.Special attention is given to how design goal setting and intentions operate in terms of the motivation for design actions. The components of this framework are discussed and a model of design action control is proposed.The results of this study come from the conceptual base of motivation theory in psychology and the protocol analysis of design process in a laboratory experiment of a residential design. |
