Abstract This paper is a series of study to understand the localization process and the influnce of western architecture culture in East Asia. The main theme of this paper is the architectural characteristics of catholic church architecture in 16Th-19Th century of NAGASAKI. The results of this paper are summarized as follows. 1. In 16.17C in Japan, when the missionaries of the society of Jesus build the church, there was a rule that they should use the Japanese way of construction and that Works had to done by Japanese carpenters.And Japanese Buddism buildings had a lots of influence upon the early catholic church architecture of this period. 2.When Japanese carpenter build the new church which Japanese traditional architecture style, a narrow width of traditional building has facade of the church like western church architecture.3.Main material of exteranl and inernal of church buildings was almost wood in the early 19C, but with coming later in 19C, wood and brick were used together. Nevertheless most columns are clustered Pier made of wood.4. Prototype of floor plan, in 19C church architecture of Japan, was Basilica type, and OURA catholic church had much influence upon other churches of this period.Finally, in 19Th century, the catholic church architecture of Japan can be characterized as ecletic and transitive architure.
