A Study on the `Scientific Method` in Russian Avant-garde Architects |
| Abstract |
This study aims to estimate the 'scientific methods' of Rationalismand Constructivism which have been generally understood as the two contrary directions of Russian Avant-garde Architecture since the Revolution of 1920's, and to clarify the similarity of the two groups from the viewpoint that their 'scientific methods' were not the objective truth but the values related to the 'spirit'.We concluded that Rationalists established the aesthetic rules with 'psychoanalytical method' and Constructivists interprete the utilitarian functions as 'the comforable' with their 'functional method', and that the two groups considerd their own methods as languages in order to obtain the new systems of communication for the new world. |
