| Abstract |
The relationship of architecture and surrealism was underestimated in comparison with other Historical Avant-Gardes. And most of surrealist architecture that were conceived by surrealists were mere found objects before Modern era. Nevertheless, some of Modern architecture reveal the explicit effects of surrealism, and many contemporary buildings are affected by surrealist methods. The methods of surrealism that affect on the 20th century architectural design are as follow: juxtaposition of objects ; juxtaposition of programme; indetermination ; trompe-l'oeil;scaling ;visual pun ;displacement ;poetic analogy ;deformation ;biomorphological transformation ;expression of unconscious desire. |
