Title Structural Performance Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened by the Repair and Reinforcement Materials

Abstract Ten specimens were constructed and tested to investigate and evalute the structural performance of the cracked reinforced concrete beam with the epoxy repair, the epoxy bonded steel plates, and carbon fiber sheets. Based on the test results, the following conclusions are made.1)Epoxy-repaired specimens which were loaded with the repaired condition were not cracked in the comparision with its standard specimen at the same location. In epoxy-repaired specimen, it was recommended that the cracked regions of test specimens were throughly investigated before epoxy repairs. 2)For epoxy-repaired specimens, test specimen (BEL), which was repaired with the loading condition, was increased the initial stiffness and carrying capacity in the comparision with the test specimen BER under unloading conditions.3)The failure mechanism of specimens with the epoxy-bonded steel plates and the carbon fiber sheets were happened with the stress concentration at the end of the bonded strengthening plates and carbon fiber sheets with the increasing of the load, the crack pattern of the test specimens was developedin diagonal tension crack with the yielding of tension steel bars and fiber sheets4)Reinforced concrete beams(BSM30, BCMS) with epoxy bonded steel plates and carbon fiber sheets were increased thestrength and stiffness in comparision with standard specimen. It was indicated that proper repaired reinforced concrete beams were able to be developed the structural performance. Maximum carrying capacities of these specimens were higher 1.08~1.25 times than the standard specimen5)For the test specimens strengthed with carbon fiber sheets, it was very good in the insurance of strength and stiffness, and showed a distinct difference in variance with the length of carbon fiber sheets, the difference of structural performance was found in the quality of domestic or foreign carbon fiber sheets.
