A Study on the Optimal Design of Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers |
Abstract |
Multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) is used to enhance the effectiveness and the robustness of single tuned mass damper. Motion of main structure with MTMD is describedin the form of state space. Optimal design of MTMD is conducted by the help of computer-based numerical techniques. Design objective is to reduce the vibration energy or acceleration of a main structure subjected to white noise excitation. Numerical study on each parameter of MTMD was performed first assuming main structure with single degree of freedom. Based upon these results, the design procedure for optimal design was proposed. |
