Abstract This study presents elasto-plastic behavior analysis of members with non-uniform centroid by using the transformation matrix and thedivided section models. The transformation matrix on members having the variant centorid is derived from the equilibrium equations, and the transformation matrix is combined with the stiffness matrix of element having seven degrees of freedom at each node. In the elasto-plastic analysis, section divided model is used to consider partial plasticity. An approximate nonlinear analysis is achieved by load incremental soution and tangential stiffness method. The behavior of thin-walled box and channel cross-section subjected to eccentric concentrated and uniformly vertical load is analyzed to show the applicability of the present method.
