Abstract High demand for construction products and the lack of skilled manpower caused wage increase and quality degradation in the domestic construction market. Industrialization of building construction has begun as a way to resolve those problems. Industrialization can reduce time and efforts spent in the fields. But it requires large initial investment for the establishment of production equipment, purchasing of raw materials, and processing of materials. Inventory storage, and transportation in producing and supplying building members have been important factors in the execution of a construction project. In the domestic construction market, the precast concrete apartment construction using prefabrication method is the representative of the industrialized building construction.A construction company that buids precast concrete apartments has invested large amount of resources in the production, transportation, and installation of precast concrete panels. To achieve a good return on investment(ROI), a company must optimize the management of precast concrete panels in the production, transportation, and installation phases. But most domestic companies have not achieved the level of efficiency that they desired. This was because of the lack of coordination between a factory and the installation sites. With this background, the authors investigate the problems of the management of panels based on the management body and the flow of panels, and suggest methods for the optimal management of panels in the production, transportation, and installation phases. This study is accomplished from the perspective of the management of logistics for the precast concrete panels in the precast concrete apartment construction.
