| Abstract |
This paper attempts to highlight key issues of the formal characteristics of the mixed-use supertall buildings. This paper will first present a brief review and comparative studies of the formal characteristics of the mixed-use supertall buildings. This will be followed by discussions of the factors based on which the forms are determined. The outcomes from this study are as follows : 1) The formal characteristics of the mixed-use supertall building are classified into the horizontal.block type and the vertical.megastructure type by the composition and the allocation of the functional space. 2) The formal characteristics and the structural systems of the mixed-use supertall building are inseparable, and must complement each other. 3) And also the formal compositions are mostly influenced by the dominant structural systems, the architectural requirements fo the usage space, the elevator zonning system, and the building codes on the usuage controls. |
