The Image of the navel as a circular form symbolizes the center of the world and the beginning of the creation.The Omphalos in the ancient represents this attribute very well. This study investigates the symbolic system of this holy stone. Omphalos and the process of adapting to the circular plan architecture in the late times. Omphalos symbolizes the center of the world(Cosmology), the death or resurrection, and the fire, authority. The architectural form with this symbolic system is a circular shape. The mysterious space of the circular form in the myth is changed the realistic space, and become a principal element of the divine space in the architecture. |
