An Experimental Study on the Bending Behavior of Half PC Panels |

Abstract |
A half precast concrete(PC) slab gives a good way to save labor costs. Many types of half PC have been developed to save construction cost. Even though half PC using Kaiser truss is widely being used, it has some problems such as excessive camber due to contraction of concrete.The objective of this study is to develop a new type of shear connection device instead of Kaiser truss for the half PC slab. For this purpose, 18 bending specimens for seven half PC types were tested to examine the bending behaviors, including Kaiser truss type. The test results are summarized in terms of initial crack strength, initial stiffness, ultimate strength, deformation capacity and failure mode. The major structural performances are compared with that of Kaiser truss slab. The performance of ribbed type is similar to that of Kaiser truss type. It is shown that a prestressed slab is excellent in initial crack strength and ultimate strength. |
