Abstract |
The interpretative attitudes to the street in planning and design of housing estates have two critical points; one is to regard the street as the boundary, and as the part of residential spaces, the other. It was found that the latter view, regarding the street as the part of residential space has been started with introduction of apartment as new urban housing type in the 1960s in Korea, and this trend continued to the mid of 1970s, Sanggye new town has to be recorded as rare case in 1980s categorized this attitude. The former view has been popularized with the development of jamsil housing estate, and this attitude has been usually used as major view until now with so many cases including five new towns in metropolitan area. |
