A Study on Structural Behavior for Concrete Filled Square Steel Tube Columns |
Abstract |
This study investigated for the ultimate capacity and deformation of concrete filled steel square tube column under centric and eccentric load with key parameters, such as eccentric ratio, width-to-thickness ratio and strength of concrete. The obtained results are as follows.1. Considering for the fracture mode of concrete filled steel tube column, each specimens were presented respectively fracture mode by compression failure no relation with B/t ratio and eccentric ratio of steel tube.2. The concrete filled steel tube column was effective for hollow steel tube column in ultimate capacity because local buckling of steel tube confined by the concrete.3. The increase ratio of concrete filled steel tube column for the hollow steel tube column was presented high as the increase of strength of concrete and B/t ratio and the decrease of eccentric ratio. And the ratio was presented to the times of 1.5~3.4. The increase ratio of ultimate capacity of non-confined concrete for the concrete filled steel tube was decreased as the increase of B/t ratio and strength of concrete, and the ratio was presented the times of 3~5 respectively.5. The empirical formulas to predict the ultimate capacity of concrete filled steel tube column considering B/t ratio, eccentric ratio and strength of concrete were proposed. |
