Design of a Cinema Complex with a Centralized Projection Room |
| Abstract |
Cinema is regarded as the fifth industry of our time, and its role is very important for both cultural and economical aspects. Along this importance, the uniqueness of cinema as architectural program offers architects a chance to express various creative languages. But, away from this possibility, most of existing cinema could be summed as mere large containers in which black projection rooms are located. Under the name of Rationalism and Functionalism, we are still caught by the influence of Modernism Architecture, despite of time changes. The ultimate goal for pure forms and clear structural plans, blinds our eyes to look into what program and site offer to us.Starting from above mentioned realities, this thesis aims to clarify the design process which based on understanding of the attribute of cinema.To understand the cinema, thesis to bring out the keyword which can generate the character of experiential space, is the major focus. Therefore, the interpretation of program and site is obvious clue for entire project, not merely an architectural reference at the beginning. |
