Abstract |
This study considers the role played by the institutional block in the urban tissue which represents the government power of a period which provides its characteristics. The evolution of the block of the Conservatoire national des Arts et M tiers in Paris is viewed from 1838 to 1872. This study is based upon three axes of analysis : first, an observation of the urban context of the blocks to determine its situation in the city and the formation of institutions in the nineteenth century and defines the process of internal transformation. The second part evaluates the intervention of architects and projects in the Conservatoire national des Arts et M tiers in Paris. The last part depicts the projects directly concerning the building units in the complex block and the spatial organization and the decorations of the courts. |
