Abstract This study is on the characteristics of space organization in the modernized elementary school. Fourteen modernized elementary schools were sampled for case studies. They are investigated in the characteristics of space organization. The results from this study are as follows : 1. New elements of space organization are the universal classroom, the multi-purpose space, the information center and the teacher-room, etc. 2. The multi-purpose space is classified three types, the widen corridor type, the flexible classroom type, the independent space type. 3. The teacher-room corresponds to the grade. In lower grade, mainly it corresponds to the class. 4. There are some problems in space organization of modernized elementary schools. That is not to correspond to the condition of changing education system and community school and information Age, efficiency of educational facilitis.
