A Study on the Finite Element Analysis of Split-Tee Connections |
Abstract |
In this stydy, the finite element analysis using joint elements, bolt elements and shell elements is presented to investigate the behavior of split-tee connections. The contact of plates and the high-strength bolts is simply idealized by joint elements and bolt elements respectively. The initial stiffness is determined by the iterative procedure and the non-linear analaysis is achived by a constant-arc-length method based on Newton-Raphson method. The analysis of split-tee connections demonstrates the exactness and applicability of the presented method. And the results indicate that the thickness of T-flange has a great effect on the ultimate strength and deformation capacity of split-tee connections. The presented method can be an useful tool for the design of split-tee connections. |
