Improvement of VE Activities in the Korean Construction Industry using Partnering and Constructability Concepts |
| Abstract |
The VE activities in the Korean construction industry have been mainly performed in the construction phases, by which we can not expect its effectiveness sufficiently. The purpose of this paper is to improve the AE activities, using partnering and constructability concepts which are able to maximize the interaction between parties involved in the construction project Constructability type AE(CoVE) and partnering type VE{PaVE) are proposed as models incorporating those concepts into VE activities. Each model consists of three main phases that are preparation, workshop, and implementation phase In the CoVE, construction knowledge and experience could be incorporated into the design process by the participation of construction professionals in the design-VE activity team, based on the constructability concept.
