Renewal Project of Multy Family Housing for Low-Income Class |
Abstract |
Since 1960's, low_income residential area have been destroyed in the name of redeve1opment. The housing supplied by the redevelopment have been mainly for the middl_income class residents. The housing units have been nick_named as 'chiken cages', for being uniform, closed spaces without any communal activity spaces. The thesis .of this design project is to propose another way of redevelopment other than th efficiency oriented one. As the main concept of the project, 'memory' has been chosen since all the redevelopment has been erasing the past. And has come up with compeletely foreign environment 'Memory' is regarded as a string to connect the new to the past surroundings. The design process is as follows: I. Find spatial elements which typifies the old residential area. 2. Analyze the found 'memory' elements. S. Plan the new residential structure with efficiency. 4. Insert the memory elements into the new structure. 5. Adjust the new and the memory element to fit each other |
