Control/Strictire Omtegrated Design of Buildings Subject to Wind Loads |
Abstract |
This paper deals with a technique for the control/structure integrated optimization in the design flexible highrise building systems subject to wind 1oad. This current approach eliminates the need to specify the tradeoffs between control energy and structural mass, whereas the tradeoff is determined by dynamic constraints in the optimization process. Lagrange's multipliers in the first-order necessary conditions for optimality are considered as design variables, that lead to new problem formulation. This is fo11owed by the fact that linear feedback control gain is explicitly determined by the Largrange's multipliers tuned to satisfy. The first-order necessary conditions and general SQP(sequential Quadratic programming) optimization techniques can be used with ease. Structural optimal design example shows that the proposed control/structure integrated design technique gives the reasonable and economic structural design. |
