Abstract For the preflex beam, construction of more long span building or bridge and shortening of a period of field works have been demanded. The 3-Piece Prefabrication Method of preflex beam is one of the methods developed to satisfy these demands. This paper describes this new prefabrication method in the viewpoint of prestressing method for the casing concrete and design method of the preflex beams. The objective of this study is to develop 3-Piece Prefabrication Method for long span preflex composite beam. Compared with the conventional preflex beam method, this method has many advantages as fo11ows. I) Because a lot of fabrication works of the beam are performed in the shops, fabrication accuracy is increased. And also it is not necessarly to transport a great dea1 of equipments for the fabrication of beams at a site. 2) It is possible to reduce a period of field works. S) By using the method develop in this study, cost of construction works is able to be reduced.
