Vibration Tests of Steel-Framed Floors |
Abstract |
Long span steel framed floor are prone to unsatisfactony vibration for normal human occupancy. In the worst cases, it may e\ren interfere with normal services and communication facilities in the building. The trend toward longer span, less damping and thinner sections could result in problem if special care is not taken in the design vibration_ characteristics, including damping ratio and frequencies, of the steel-framed f1oors was examined through the full-scaled measurements of response. 4th f100r of 3l story building was exited by the excitor installed on the 4th f1oor. The measurements were also taken under the action of impulse hammer, sand sag and walking load for the investigation of fundamental and higher frequencies and damping ratio. |
