Basic Wind Speed Map of Korea for Wind Resistant Design |
| Abstract |
This paper shows the map of Korea describing basic wind speed which is drawn by using annual maximum wind speed oberved at Weather Observing Stations. The basic wind speed shown in the map is a value for a return period of 100 years for the 10-minute mean wind speed at an altitude of 10m above a flat and open terrain. At the stage of making the map, the change of terrain roughness caused by the urbanization of regions peripheral to the Weather Observing Stations and the change of wind speed caused by the effect of large scale topography was taken into special consideration. The results of this analysis are employed in the "Draft Revision of Recommendations for Loads on Buildings" compiled by the Architectural Institute of Korea. |
