Abstract This is the study on the structure and transference of the dugout(umjip,움집) in Korean new-stone age. Through this study, 1 have recognized the structural result of wooden architecture accomplished in new-stone age. Primary dugout was a simple structure of which con-shaped roof was made up of only rafter. Vertical column was needed to reinforce a weak point of structure wits only rafter. Column made a regular arrangement gradually and the method using a cross-beam(dori, 도리) was generalized as a means to reinforce th solidarity of upper side of columns and to hung up the rafter resonably. The use of column and cuss-beam could enable th expansion of the plan Also, the dugout with rectengular plan appeared and the roof style became diverse in the form gable and hip roof. The structure with beam(보) and trusspost(대공), which was adopted in late new-stone age, has a great important meaning in the Point that it results in the basic form of Min-dori structure.
