Abstract The cleanroom needs much more energy than the other use of building because of the requirment for strict control of the indoor environment, In this context energy saving is an important subject in terms of cost saving and competiveness. The purpose of this paper is providing the basic data for the design of economical cleanroom. As a proposal of effective energy saving for the cleanroom, the possibility of reusing the general exhaust air and heat exhaust air is studied focusing its heat charaacteristics and the harmfulness. Thereafter, the methods of reusing the exhaust air and recovering the heat by total heat exchanger are proposed as a strategy of load reduction. Those methods are estimated by load simulation.
