A Basic Study on the Functional Classification Unit(FCU) in a Museum by Case Study |
| Abstract |
A museum has various function . So choosing any special function is very important when we build a museum. But it is very difficult to investigate a function because it has abstract meaning. Therefore we suggest special unit named FCU (Functional Classification Unit)' for analysis of museum's function. The FCU means a space in which a special function is accomplished and we call it a FCU eventhough those are composed of several rooms. We adapted these Fcu's to 9 museums in Korea. First of all. This study aims to suggest a FCU though amalysis of case study. The space is largely divided into exhibition collection storage, education administration, curatorial and technical support. And this study shows 128 FCU. |
