A Study on the Concept based Design Solutions of Students` Works |
| Abstract |
Design activities are comprised with not only visualization and representation but also design concepting through an inductive and deductive reasoning of designer's cognition already existed. And now, architectural design studio has emphasized on the design concept testing. So this study intend to find out which concepts students seek to solve the design Problems, and to support the exploration of design problems such as project. Investigation of student design competition award works of multi-family housing, museum and office building resulted in two points, the one is that students of U.S. and Korea has sought the design concepts related to site context, relation between site condition and program, and the individual interpretation of their world, such as big idea, natural and referential interpretation, the other is that the same verbal design concept referring to the sociocultural characteristics in U.S. and Korea has been represented differently. |
