Abstract |
The separation- ㅁ -type houses resided by the upper-class in the Kyungju region and the Chulla province have the similarities with the typical pattern of Sadaebu's houses and the differences as well originated from the interaction with the Min-Ga. 1. The typical ㅁ -type houses had localized gradually during the first half term of the Chosun Dynasty. In the Kyungju region, these houses are encircled with the opened wall. On the other hand, those of the Cholla province have the free layout especially in the closed wall. 2. The degree of the centralization in the structure of these houses had an effect on the number of the visitors which the houses could accomodate. Relatives as well as visitors were allowed 植 enter only as far as the Sprang-Chae. Consequently, a ritual place was changed to the Sarong-Chae from the An-Chae. However, in the Chulla province, visitors were allowed to enter the An-Chae. 3. The structure of the Sarang-Chae has connection with the form of house. In the Kyungju region, the Sarang-Maru which was built in the big size is open to the outside, but in the Chulla province, the Daechung is closed and divided in the Nu-Maru and the Maru-Bang. |
