A Preliminary Study on the Psychological Factors of Environmental Noise |
| Abstract |
In to get the accurate of of environmental noises, it is necessary to investigate not only physical characteristics of noise but the subjective psycho-acoustical respects of individual persons. To develope the effective evaluation procedures for environmental noises, we investigated Korean vocabularies which can express the feelings for environmental noises, and analyzed psychological factors influencing on the subjective feelings of persons, through a series of psycho-acoustical experiments to various environmental noises. As a result of this study, we suggest as follows'1) The human psycho-acoustical factors for environmental noises are classified into five types as "sharp," "noisy," "loud," "annoy" and "confuse", among them "sharp" is the major factor. 2) For aircraft noises, construction noises, impulse noises and traffic noises, the major psycho-acoustical factor is "sharp"; and that for electric appliances noises, railroad noises and building services noises is "noisy." |
