Abstract |
This study aims at providing useful data for the design of underground stations through an extensive survey of acoustic properties, carried out in underground stations of Seoul. In the present work, architectural features of underground stations located in Seoul were examined by visiting every site and analyzing drawings. The distinction in architectural features could be found in their ceiling materials and the shape of Under-platform section. Number of underground stations were selected and categorized based on their architectural features, such as ceiling materials and the shape of platform section. Each chosen station was revisited and the noise levels were measured and compared with their architectural features. It was found that perforated aluminum plates and aluminium louvers as ceiling materials are more efficient than the other materials, which can be used for subway stations. Also, semi-circular section for the railway-side seems to contribute to the attenuation of transmitting noise from trains on the railway to the platform. The measured noise level in platforms treated with perforated aluminum plate and aluminum louver was 4∼8 dB(A) lower than in those treated with line aluminum and zinc galvanizing. Also, the measured noise level in Under-platforms which adopts semi-circular section for the railway-side of the underground station was 4∼7 dB(A) lower than in those with a rectangular section. |
