Abstract The purpose of this research is to establish a model that manages the information created and modified during the entire life cycle from planning to maintenance for a steel frame structure, using the entity based modeling method. In order to develop the integrated model, we analyze the construction process of steel frame structures and the facilities and procedures involved and then relate them to one another with appropriate connections.
The model is composed of two components: (1) a process model created by the IDEF0 method, and (2) a product model presented by Unified Modeling Language. A prototype is implemented to link the integration model and database for a practical application, which can be used in the information management for steel structural construction projects in the future.
