| Abstract |
The present research aims at examining what kinds of design ideas are generated during design process and how they are transformed into final design product. We explored this in a protocol analysis of retrospective reports; an architect worked on an housing design task while drawing freehand sketches and later reported what he had been thinking of during the design task. We have devised a new scheme for coding designer's cognitive actions from design protocols. This research lies within the scope of examinations of how creative ideas are developed during design process and expressed in design results. |
