Abstract |
A street space is the very important factor not only to represent urbanity and civic culture, and representative urbanscape but also to estimate environmental quality. However, by rapid urbanization of Korea without the consideration of the whole master plan, the Korean urban streets have been deteriorated. Lately, as the Korean urban enters more functionalized and commercialized phase, streets and buildings of urban have been unified and prosaic. Therefore, this research is to provide those decision makers or planners with the tools of improving urban streetscape. The final purpose of this research project is to obtain relationship between the results of psychological analysis and those of physical analysis about the urban street space, through CG simulation. For the series of this study, psychological analysis and physical analysis of urban street have been carried out. In this paper, for the purpose of this study, physical elements have been analyzed with a symbolic drawing and picture outline tracing. The physical elements of streetscape can be properly classified into elevation element, plane element, institution element, control element, dynamic element, and background element. In order to represent street space as these elements quantitatively, we tried to make a symbolic drawing, trace an outline on slide picture, and describe them several fluent. As a result, it was made clear that street space was possible to represent with quantitative elements. That is, the quantification of physical elements proved that the street spaces could be described quantitatively by the analytical model consisting of the appropriate space elements. |
