| Abstract |
America, which already entered into aging society, has desperately endeavored to improve the degree of elderly welfare with the minimum expenditure. At the moment, the deliverly patterns of elderly care facilities in America can be regarded as a reflection of those endeavors. Therefore it is worthwhile to study them in the point of setting the basis for the comparative research of international care facilities for older people and the deliverly plan for elderly care facilities in Korea.
This paper first has investigated the elderly care environment related to demographic change, economic and social characteristics of older people, and elderly care system in America. Secondary, elderly care facilities have been identified according to the degree of institutionalization and medicalization ; Congregate Housing, Board and Care Homes, Assisted Living Facility, Nursing Home, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, and so on. Thirdly, historical development of elderly care facilities has been analysed. And finally, this paper tries to identify the deliverly patterns of care facilities for older people in America and their meanings on the basis of prior investigations. |
