Abstract |
By the current parking system for multi-family housing, the parking lots have been provided both on ground and underground spaces. However, the system prevents residents from having enough open spaces and leads to high construction costs. Especially, the open spaces of multi-family housing sites composing of small size units have been converted to parking spaces by high density of household. This circumstance leads to high portion of underground parking construction cost in total construction, and the open spaces per household have been reduced dramatically. Thus, it is necessary to analyze how the construction costs and open spaces are being changed by applying different parking systems in multi-family housing sites. This research has found out that the self-driving parking system is the most economical parking system, and the underground parking system is the worst parking system among different parking systems from the view point of construction cost. From the view point of open space, the different parking systems such as self-driving, mechanical, and underground parking system have provided similar quality of open spaces in residental housing sites. However, the self-driving parking system would be the best providing open space based on the circumstances of same development investment in different parking system. In the ecosystem of environmental aspect, self-driving parking system has provided the best circumstances for the living in multi-family housing sites. The underground parking system has prevented water from percolating downward through the soil so that it can not provide environmental friendly housing sites. It is necessary to adopt new parking system in order to reduce parking construction cost and maintain enough open space. The self-driving parking system is the parking system which can provide environmentally sound circumstance and economical construction cost for multi-family housing sites. |
