Abstract Long-term behavior analysis considering construction sequence should be performed to replicate actual situation occurred during construction stage of high-rise reinforced concrete buildings. Since the axial force redistribution of shores and columns is time-dependent, several issues related to the construction sequence including the placement of concrete, installation and removal of shores, adjustment of story level and the additional load application must be included in the structural analysis. To address such issue, this paper has proposed a computational algorithm for representing construction sequence, focusing on time-dependent deformation in early days. Moreover, this has been implemented using an object-oriented programming language to develop the structural analysis system taking account step-wise construction sequence. The developed system consists of modules for input, database, data store, structural analysis and display of results and provides Graphic User Interface (GUI) with the relational database to reduce labor efforts consumed repeatedly as construction proceeds. The proposed system is hoped to help determine construction sequence not to burden undesirable construction effects to main structural systems but to achieve the intent of structural design.
