Abstract |
This study deals with the properties and application of silane solution for the protection of absorption in concrete surface. Damage to concrete always involves water, while water can cause purely physical damage, for example in the case of freeze and thaw stressing, it is also a medium for the transport of aggressive substances, such as chlorides from road salts and forms a reaction medium for harmful chemical processes, particularly corrosion of the reinforcing steel. One of the most efficient ways of preserving concrete is thus protection against moisture. This study deals with the properties and application of silane solution by estimating the adhesive strength, penetration depth, resistance of permeability, absorption capacity, the chemical resistance, and micro-structure etc. through various test methods for the protection of absorption in concrete surface layer. As a result of this study, the characteristics of silane solution of capillary coating type can be both good adhesion of coating and compatibleness with other water-based waterproofing materials on the concrete surface layer. It can be possible to reduce water absorption in the capillaries and resist to alkalis. |
