Abstract |
The utilization of underground space in multi-family housing is getting more important from an efficient use of available land and energy point of view. However, there is potential for developing condensation problems which may cause structural, material and physical damage to the building structure. Even more we don't have any design guidelines and/or standards for preventing condensation problems during the design stage. So, the objective of this study is development of Computer program for predicting surface condensation in the underground space at the early design stage, and establish of design standards and guidelines with this program. For this purpose computer programs for predicting surface condensation in the underground space have been developed. The programs consist of 4 sub-modules : 1) a program for predicting earth temperatures at various depths, 2) a program for predicting air temperatures in the underground space, 3) a program to predict underground surface temperature based on the earth and underground space temperatures, 4) a program to determine dew point temperature of underground space and predict the percentage of condensation occurrence throughout the whole year. These programs were verified by comparing the results with HEAT2 simulation program and calculation results by each program were well agreed within ±0.3℃ |
