Abstract |
The Ministry of Construction and Transportation preliminarily practiced the Environment-Friendly Housing Certification in order to promote the development of Environmentally sound and healthy housing estates. During the Preliminary Certification, 8 housing estates to be newly constructed were certified. In the course of the certification, these housing estates have made considerable improvements in planning, and are thus expected to be constructed with better residential environments than existing housing estates. It can be said that ecological environment and pedestrian-friendliness have been especially improved. And the other main assessment results are as follows : ① A network of exclusive pedestrian walkways for promoting environment-friendly open space was connected, ② Terrestrial biotopes and aquatic biotopes were adopted in most estates, ③ The use of natural and harmless materials was applied in most estates and the provision of garden-style balconies per unit was applied in one case, and ④ Recycling of domestic wastes, water-permeable pavement and the reuse of topsoil were partly applied in relation to the conservation of the environment and the protection of an ecosystem. |
