Abstract A kitchen has a large part of a living house since it is indispensible for human's fundamental life. Wealthy farmers appeared in the end of Late Cho-seon dynasty and adapted their houses to practical life styles, forms of kitchens begun to change. The article has its object of analyzing kitchen's features from 1876 to 1945, that is, modern times took due to acceptance of the changes in living houses and the housing philosophies. Characters, it caused their kitchens to take new features. Internal kitchen works came to have more efficiency by means of space divisions. The kitchen works were extended to outdoor that works were conducted in spaces i.e. Toe. Storage spaces became diverse and independent of the kitchen. The line of flow was minimized. A plane-structure of an inner house was changed by storage rooms for kitchen stuffs. As wealthy farmers employees and neighbors frequently came in and out, a closed feature of an inner house weakened and functioned as a space for outdoor kitchen works, passage and an eating space and so on.
