Abstract This paper presents the results of non destructive testing of the concrete using basalt aggregates produced in Cheju area by applying the Schmidt hammer with varying curing methods, age and kinds of aggregates. Rebound number and compressive strength of the concrete using basalt aggregates are compared with those using granite aggregates. Compressive strength of the concrete using basalt aggregates is estimated about 10~15% higher compared with that using granite aggregates. The strength estimation equation derived from rebound number under standard curing condition is also estimated at about 21% higher compared with that under air curing condition at rebound number of 30, while it is estimated about 13% lower at rebound number of 40. The estimation equation of compressive strength of concrete using basalt aggregates by rebound number is proposed in formulas (1), (2). The correction factor considering curing condition of rebound number and age for the strength estimation equation derived from rebound number are proposed in tables 9 and 12.
