Abstract Form-shore structures are very sensitive to progressive collapse. Because the factor of safety of shores against buckling is relatively low, a failure of a single shore may trigger a serious collapse, as has occurred on so many occasions. The failure of a single shore may also cause uplift forces in adjacent shores. This will initiate a progressive collapse. So, if the tensile capacity of shore can't be expected, it is very significant work to understand the collapse mechanism of form-shore structures. When the progressive collapse analysis of form-shore structures including the buckling of shores is performed, the buckled shores should be excluded in the following analysis step. But, in the case that a general analysis program is used for this purpose, this work will be very complicated.
So, this study develops an algorithm and a computer program for the progressive collapse analysis of form-shore structures. An analysis for a sample structure is performed for the test of application possibility of these algorithm and computer program. As a result of analysis, axial forces shared by the buckled shores are appropriately redistributed. Therefore, it is possible to analyze the redistribution effect of load confidently by using the result of this study.
