| Abstract |
In these rapidly changing social environments, many buildings become out of fashioned day by day. Such aging of buildings would cost building values as well as social resources. Therefore, these buildings need some kind of transformation of internal structure and exterior feature for sustainable uses. But the study about the exterior renovation is still insufficient. The purpose of this study is to clarify the importance and purpose of exterior renovation of buildings in the central area of a city and to analyze finding data. This study classify renovation methods into 5 types according to the function of outside wall, then examine and analyze various data of each type. The results of this study are as follows;
1) Among several methods, there were the most marked five types which are Frame type, Double skin type, Installation wall type, Exchange type, and Composition type.
2) General tendencies of exterior renovation are many uses of 2-dimensional transformations rather than 3-dimensional ones, modularization in using materials for the facade, and emphasis of windows and openings by increase of growth and continuity. |
