| Abstract |
The aim of this study is to develop sustainability indicators for environmentally sustainable housing planning. Within this aim, this paper firstly identifies the key issues of sustainable human settlements from the UN Habitat II. Secondly, it establishes planning goals and extracts the indicators for sustainable housing planning from the 12 exemplary cases(Millennium Village, Ecolonia, Urban Village, Sanfrancisco sustainability indicator, etc.). It then constructs a first framework for establishing indicators through analyzing measurability, adaptability, inter-relationship between several sustainability issues. Finally, the research establishes the environmentally sustainable indicators related to the key issues and planning goals to assess environmental sustainability of housing planning. Housing planning and design can be assessed and improved sustainability in term of these indicators. |
