Abstract The purpose of this study was to analyze the radiant heat exchange between a real human body scale model and inside surfaces in a rectangular ceiling cooling enclosure according to a human body posture(sitting or sleeping). A thermal comfort characteristic of a human body model in a rectangular enclosure with radiant cooling panel was simulated by a real body scale model, the recently revised simulation program COMFORT(2000), according to the variation of the human body posture. A characteristic of the conventional air-conditioning system was compared with one of the radiant cooling system, especially about the themal comfort aspects.
