Abstract This study was to analyze the thermal characteristics of a transparent insulation material(TIM) with an outside cover glass. Especially a transmission characteristic including reflection and absorption of solar radiation were simulated by the variation of the TIM depth and solar incidence angle. And a thermal conductance of TIM was simulated according to a hard body ratio of TIM. A two type of transparent insulation system were constructed at the south outside wall surface and measured for winter. The thermal behavior characteristic in inside of this transparent insulation system was analyzed by the simulated results to take an information about the thermal characteristic of a transparent insulation system. A simulation program TIM was developed to analyze the thermal(radiant transmission and insulation) characteristic of a transparent insulation system.
