Abstract |
In preliminary structural design of buildings, it is very important to manage various data to identify the characteristics of structural schemes and design intent. Therefore, efficient and convenient data management is indispensable for successful application of computer to preliminary structural design. The purpose of this study is to propose a data model which can support systematic management of the data related to preliminary structural design. To do this, we identified the three modeling concepts of 'Product', 'Process', and 'Level'. These modeling concepts describe the important aspects of preliminary structural design. And, based on the modeling concepts, we classified the main considerations that a structural designer takes into account to identify the characteristics of structural schemes and design intent. Next, we classified the data in accordance with the main considerations and then organized them into objects. Also, we established the relations of the objects. We expect the proposed data model to support systematic management of the data related to preliminary structural design through providing various views on structural schemes and design intent. |
